Addressing airport capacity imbalance

As travel demand picks up, airport capacity needs to be factored in as part of the post-COVID recovery phase.

Different runway configurations at airports can result in varying operating conditions, affecting the performance of both air traffic control and airports in terms of workload and throughput – a performance issue already identified by the Performance Review Commission (PRC) in the Airport Capacity Imbalance study published in October 2020.

In this webinar, the PRC explored the issue further with representatives from airlines and airports in order to tackle the key question: What is the impact of a given runway configuration on airport operations, and how do we deal with that from a strategical and tactical point of view?
